More Wedding Projects

Some impressions of our wedding back drop, and how it came to life. Also the start of the sail that I'm sewing, to provide some shade on the day. October still feels like summer here in SoCal! So guests know where to find food and drinks, rest rooms and more, we made a ton of signage.

First temporary set up...

Greenery???

Props

Finished with macrame curtain finally hanging properly!

Had to lay the sail out in the alley to measure and cut the pieces. Some of the signs helped holding it down!
Yes, I also built a corn hole game!

Up-Cycle Your T-Shirts!

An idea I had a while ago, based on the over use of plastic bags in grocery stores. It's insane how many plastic bags you end up with in just one go at the check out counter. Many cities are banning the use of plastic bags for obvious reasons. I was asking myself how I could provide a bag that's reusable and maybe even recycled itself?! Welcome the T-Shirt bag!

This is more the 'deluxe' version of the idea. I cut off the lower part of the shirt to make the loops. Leather trims protect the bottom and provide stability. A simplified version would simply close the shirt at the bottom. The sleeves slightly modified would become the carry loop.

This One Never Made It

Some models never survive the gauntlet of multiple sample rounds, line reviews and 'market demands'. This model wasn't half bad, but unfortunately never survived. I tried some new layering techniques by 3D screen printing on lighter materials, substituting the usual leather layering madness that some DC models in the 'moto' line are famous for. Here some of the colorways that were developed.

DIY Beer Bar

With our wedding around the corner my project list is finally slowly shrinking. One more ticked off the list is the beer bar, which we've called 'Becker's Biergarten'. Since we won't be having waiters or people serving beverages and food, our guests will be able to tap their own beer. So much more fun anyways! Check out below the journey of building it and the first test run for 4th of July. O'zapt is!

USA TODAY Interview On Nyjah Vulc Shoe

I while ago I had a phone interview with USA today about the Nyjah Vulc shoe I designed back in 2013. The cover of the article is below and if you click the link you'll get to the actual piece. I was on the phone with USA Today for about 30 minutes, explaining the ideas behind the product and diving deeper into the story. It ended up being a little less that was actually used in the article, but I'm happy for it nevertheless!

DC Shoes Spring 16 Sales Meeting

A few impressions from the DC sales meeting for Spring 16. They're not always the most 'flashy' projects, but it's time to give the little ones some love too. The Crisis and Crisis High look awesome!

This is a great supportive video for the 2014 Travis boot, all features described in a cool stop-motion style. Stoked to see my design work pay off in such a cool way!
